Research & Studies
Lavender for anxiety & sleep quality:
A study examined the effects of lavender essential oil aromatherapy on anxiety and sleep quality in patients undergoing chemotherapy. There is a significant difference in the lavender group and a significant change in the Pittsburgh Quality Sleep Index before and after chemotherapy was observed.
Vetiver for reducing stress:
A study performed on rats observed how different concentrations and delivery times of vetiver essential oil affected cortisol levels. The Forced Swim Test (FST) was employed in this work as a stressor on rats. Both 10% and 30% vetiver essential oil concentrations were provided together with the essential oil amounts that were given after the stressor. The results showed that there is a significant reduction in cortisol levels by administering vetiver essential oil with a 10% concentration.
Geranium for anxiety:
The use of essential oils was introduced to women in distress during labor in a study. The group who used rose geranium essential oil were found to have less anxiety after inhalation.
Lavender and chamomile essential oil for stress:
According to a study published in PubMed, a group of participants were assigned to three groups, the lavender, the chamomile, and control groups. The participants inhaled the essential oils for 30 nights whereas the control group inhaled water in a similar fashion. There was a statistically significant improvement in depression, anxiety and stress levels immediately and one month after the intervention compared to the control group.
Petitgrain essential oil for balancing workplace stress:
A study performed in a university classroom asked participants to complete a computer task. During the process, petitgrain essential oil were diffused and the group exposed to the essential oil was shown to have a higher performance due to a combination of reduced stress levels and improvement in the level of attentiveness
